Getting there
Caledonia state park is very easy to get to with our rig. There was nothing tricky on the way. The roads are wide enough and there are no obstacles in the way.
Site
The parking was a bit of an issue. We were allocated site 170. We tried fitting in there for about an hour, but there was no way we could get there with our 35-foot fifth wheel. We were either going to hit a tree in the back, fall in a ditch with the truck, fall in a ditch with the RV, or hit a sign with the RV. The only way we could have parked in there would be if there were no one on the other side campsite, but that was full.
We worked with the campground host to find a different site, which we did. On the other hand, it was site 154, which was probably the easiest parking we have ever done – it was a straight back-in. The sites are quite small, and neighbors are very close to you. However, there is a lot of room to the back of the sites that spans into the forest. You can therefore have an escape from others.
We really loved the forested area. It was beautiful to be in the middle of the forest.
Mobile signal
- Verizon: calls, but next to no data
- ATT: limited to calls, mostly
- T-Mobile: barely enough to work with, most video calls had to be done without a camera
Campground offering
The offering of this campground is limited as it is in the middle of the forest. There is a dump station and a water station, which we did not use since we had full hook-ups. There was a small playground right behind our campsite, which was very convenient for our children.
There is a toilet and showers, which were clean and we used them a few times even with the full hookups.
The surrounding of the campground was amazing. We really enjoyed having access to hiking paths and being in the forest.
