In 2019, we packed 6 suitcases, 3 children, and jumped on a plane to move to the USA from the Czech Republic, where we lived for the previous 10 years. We wanted to change scenery and be closer to my wife’s family. For a year, we lived happily in Vermont, USA but were not happy when Covid hit, and we could not travel anymore, which is where the plan was created – let’s buy an RV and travel the states.
Unlike many people living out of an RV, we did not have to get rid of all our possessions and downsize a lot since we went through that exercise a year before. It was an exercise of how to get a car loan with no credit score, which we didn’t have because we lived in the Czech Republic for the last 10 years. We did end up working with a local credit union and managed to get everything resolved in the end. And that is where we are now – we are on the road, moving from state to state, living in the RV. You can track our journey along.
Currently, we are in our first year of traveling. Our tentative plan is to leave Vermont, be down south in Florida in the summer, and slowly head to California for Thanksgiving, spend some time skiing after, and slowly head back to Vermont to start our second year of travels, hopefully.
We are a family of 5 and also have a dog. You can see some of our day-to-day activities on our instagram page.
